OUR STORY
Built for the long table
The Core Bar & Grill opened on St Asaph Street with a simple idea: bring back the proper steakhouse — the kind built for long nights, big tables, and bottles that don't get put away early. Christchurch deserved a room that took fire and beef seriously, and didn't apologise for staying open late.
We're still doing what we set out to do. The grill is fuelled by real heat. The beef is hand-selected Canterbury prime steer and Southland angus. The cocktails are crafted properly — and the wine list is built for people who actually drink wine. The room — warm lighting, intimate spaces, and a buzzing bar — is built for the kind of night you remember on the walk home.
Beyond the à la carte, The Core is one of Christchurch's premier private function venues — with a 300-capacity space for corporate events, birthday milestones, wedding receptions, and everything in between. We handle the details so you can enjoy the night.
